Football news Welcome back to the Chris Farnell IPS Law unofficial sports blog.On 19 October 2022, Richard Masters, the Chief Executive of the English Premier League, was elected as the new Chairperson of the World Leagues Forum during the organization’s Annual Meeting. Other matters of interest were also addressed and decided during the Annual Meeting. World Cup pitch invader won't face legal action - but will be kicked out of Qatar Welcome back to the Chris Farnell football news blog. Mario Ferri, 35, ran onto the pitch during the Group H game between Portugal and Uruguay at the Lusail Stadium on Monday.  A protester who ran onto the pitch during Portugal's match against Uruguay will not face any further legal action - but is being removed from Qatar. Mario Ferri was seen sprinting onto the grass at the Lusail Stadium in Qatar on Monday waving a rainbow flag and wearing a T-shirt that read "Save Ukraine" on the front and "Respect for Iranian women" on the back. The 35-year-old was quickly chased and detained by security officials.  On Tuesday, Mr Ferri, who describes himself as a footballer and influencer, told his Instagram followers he had been released by the Qatari authorities.  World football's lawmakers announce changes to the offside law Welcome to the Chris Farnell football news and sports law news blog. World football’s lawmakers will discuss changes to the offside law at their annual meeting in March 2022. It has been a matter of contention. Former Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger, FIFA’s chief of global football development, has proposed an attacker be ruled onside if any part of his body was level with the second-to-last defender.  The International Football Association Board’s annual general meeting will take place virtually on March 3 and also hear an update on the use of semi-automated offside technology.
